Reflecting on your collaborative creative problem solving process experience this week:
What do you think are the critical factors in a successful team cps process?
In what ways did you help create success in your cps process? What might you do next that might be even more helpful?
What is the one thing that you learned from the group Creative Problem Solving process and how might you use this in the future?

To start this off, I love working in a team. When ever a creative idea is required, it can take any idea to the next level. Communication is probably the most important factor in any team. You can have the most brilliant people working together but if they can’t communicate the idea will turn out garbage. Trust is also a big factor. You need to have trust that your ideas will not be judged. You need to trust that your team mates do their work.

I try and talk as much as possible. I love getting my ideas across to other members. I believe by doing this I can make others feel more comfortable doing the same.

I have learned that the skill of listening is probably the most import piece of knowledge I can bring with me in the future. This works in almost any scenario. Listening is key.

5. Your posting for this week is as follows:
Reflecting on your experiences in ideation/brainstorming this week:
In what ways did you find the ideation/brainstorming effective for generating new, creative ideas? Why? In what ways might it have been more effective? (consider the four creative P’s)
In what ways did you participate in the ideation/brainstorming sessions? What did you learn about your own individual creativity by participating (reflect on your personal creative profile).
How might what you have learned help you to be more creative in the future?

Random word ideation brought many new ideas which at first looked ridicules. As a group sitting and linking these random thoughts back to a product was fulfilling. I certainly would not have come up with the stretchable wall for dogs without the random word technique.

When I’m stuck on an idea for an advertisement this technique would most certainly come in handy. I do lots of stuff to come up with ideas and ideation just seems to work.

4. Your posting for this week is as follows:
A close friend of yours is intrigued by this creativity course that you are taking. She asks you the following question: “Can you really learn to be more creative? I mean aren’t you just born with it or not? Honestly, are you more creative now and if so, in what ways? And  what difference is it making for you?”
The lucky of us are born with inclination to be creative, or maybe some people enjoy doing things that are different a little more than others. But to be creative all it takes in an understanding of what creativity is.

Anything we do that is new to us is creative. No guidelines, no one telling you how to do it. This is creative. Painting and art is creative, but it is most certainly not the first thing that comes to my mind after taking this class.

Overcoming a situation or problem in a way in which you may not have thought do able is being creative.

I’m certainly have more joy in many of the things I regularly do. I try and learn something new everyday and if this knowledge can come from me actually doing something I feel very accomplished.  View high resolution

3. Your posting for this week is as follows:
Reflect on the work we did in class with respect to idea mapping or mind mapping and respond to the following questions:
How do either of these tools help you to be more creative?
What are some situations that you might use these tools and what would the benefit be to you?
Capture your responses to the experience of walking and seeing for the first time on your blog.

I really like idea mapping. I think it allows us to be much more creative in the way we come about the idea. Mind mapping, from what I have learned, has several constraints; colour being one. What if I didn’t have colourful markers on me? I rarely do.

Either way both have the ability to bring you to somewhere you would have otherwise not thought of; by linking ideas that would normally not have been linked.

I use idea mapping in almost all of my classes when coming up with campaign ideas or the creative for the campaigns.
